Alex O’Loughlin’s announcement in the spring of this year about wanting to endorse a non-profit organization promoting organ donation has recently led to his ambassadorship for Donate Life America.
The newly official organ, eye and tissue donor recently blogged, “I now have the chance to give the gift of life, which I believe is the greatest gift of all.”
Alex will be pleased to hear that his hopes that fans will lend their support the way they did in his Moonlight days are starting to bear fruit!
More recently, Silke Roehl and Sabine Atkins got together to craft and launch a campaign on behalf of the German Alex O’Loughlin Fan Club to help raise awareness and funds for FÜRS LEBEN. FÜR ORGANSPENDE, an initiative of the Deutsche Stiftung Organtransplantation. For details on how to support this campaign, please visit the fan club. Information is available in both German and English and details are also provided for Swiss and Austrian organ donation organizations.
If you decide to financially support any of these organizations or a local one of your choice, including Donate Life, please forward a copy of the acknowledgment of your contribution to Sabine Atkins (sabine.atkins@gmail.com). She will collect all acknowledgments and forward them to Alex’s Paramount Studios address.
Sabine has also started the Alex O’Loughlin Fans for Donate Life America blog to help raise awareness for the organ donation cause and to support Alex’s related activities. Your contribution can be in any language, and it also can include personal stories, inspiring stories, videos etc.

Step Up and Make a Difference
Despite the fact that there are now close to 80 million registered donors in the USA, the need still greatly outnumbers the organs and tissue available. More than 100,000 life-saving organ transplants are required, and on average, 18 people die each day because there is no organ available.
One single organ donor can save the lives of up to eight people.
One single tissue donor can save/enhance the lives of up to fifty people.

Alex O’Loughlin Completes Donate Life Ambassador Training On Set

DSO, the organizer of the World Day/European Day of Organ Donation that took place in Berlin on October 4th, have let Silke Roehl of the German Alex O’Loughin Fan Club know that Alex’s video statement was well received at the International Organ Donation Congress, where it was shown on October 5th. Here’s a translation of the DSO message provided by Alex O’Loughlin Fans for Donate Life America:
Dear Ms. Roehl,
The Organ Donation Congress was a big success. Through the international exchange of scientific news and opinions on the different aspects of organ donation, the people working in the field of transplantation were able to achieve a big step toward more organ donations.
This is very important, as waiting lists increase worldwide and thus the hopelessness for many patients about receiving matching donor organs. In the US alone wait about 110,000 patients for a life saving transplantation. In Germany it’s about 12,000 patients.In this regard, Alex O’Loughlin’s statement on organ donation was extremely important. The more people in the public limelight show that they support this important cause, the more people we can reach with our message. The statement was heard with great joy and answered with a big applause.
But it’s not just about celebrities. Everyone of us can make a difference. Because everyone of us has the chance to give the gift of life to someone else if we die.
